Approaches to well-being

By Helen Dos Santos NLPMP, Wellbeing & Resilience Life Coach
Staff at VOICES are people that are passionate about their work and care about the people they work with, but equally staff teams need to look after their own well-being. Being able to ‘switch off’ and ‘wind down’ can be difficult.
Since the beginning of the project VOICES have been working alongside qualified professionals that deliver clinical supervision to the team. Helen Dos Santos provides alternative approaches to staff well-being, such as Hypnotherapy, Time Line Therapy and Neuro Linguistic Programming.
Helen writes about her about her approaches and the recent sessions with the team:
The staff at Voices of Stoke have amazing staff, achieving great results for their services users, but all too often working under very challenging and demanding circumstances. This can have an impact on the general well-being of the staff, start to impact on their positive outlooks and has the potential to lower their energy levels.
It’s essential to ensure a good all-round balance is achieved, and investing in mental wellbeing is just as important as looking after ourselves physically. Taking time out to talk through issues, or practice some mindfulness and enjoy some quiet “me” time to still your thoughts is no luxury. Continued practice of this level of self-investment can assist in reducing any risk of stress and absence due to mental health issues.
As a Coach I like to ensure I build rapport and a relationship based on openness and trust, in a confidential and none-judgemental environment. I am a highly skilled listener who is also capable of asking questions that challenge various thinking processes, whilst also sharing tips to help build resilience and assist someone in achieving their goals. I will not give you the answers or solutions – but help you find the right answers for yourself.
As a highly skilled Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) Master, I make full use of all the techniques and tools I have acquired to ensure the individuals I work with are able to be the very best version of themselves. I also use Time Line Therapy to remove negative emotions such as anger, sadness, fear, hurt and guilt and a limiting belief such as lack of self-belief. This is a one-off technique which is best described as an emotional detox. As a Master Hypnotherapist I use hypnosis to enhance change at a subconscious level or for the purpose of de-stressing as this proves to be very relaxing.
Professionally and personally I thrive in seeing someone develop into a greater version of themselves and having the privilege of supporting them on their journey knowing that my actions, words and support will empower and improve an individual’s life.
I conform to the ethics and standards of the International Coaching Federation.
