Please note that this course consists of 3 sessions – you are required to attend all 3 sessions to complete the course
Connect 5 is a mental health promotion programme that is designed to increase the confidence and skills of frontline staff in order that they can better support people to manage mental ill-health, and increase their resilience and mental wellbeing through positive changes.
Session 1: 4th February 2020, Sky room, YMCA: 1pm-4.30pm
- Ways of seeing and understanding mental health and mental illness
- 2 Public Health Models
- Key skills for wellbeing conversations
- Signposting
Session 2: 11th February 2020, Volunteer Zone, YMCA: 9.30am-4.30pm
- Applying the ‘Five Areas’ Model
- Wellbeing Conversations: skills, attitudes and attention
- Five opportunities to practice: skills, applying the model, using the BATHE technique, exploring intensity and impact
- Stepping up, signpositng, services and resources
Session 3: 19th February 2020, Volunteer Zone, YMCA: 9.30am-4.30pm
- Reflection and Consolidation of Sessions 1 and 2
- Opportunity to practice scaling
- Breaklng the cycle: situation, behaviour, thoughts, feelings, physical
- Implementaing change in practice
- Final refelctions and evaluation
NOTE: You MUST attend sessions 1 and 2 before you can attend Session 3
