Suitable for


Homelessness and allocation officers; link workers based in prisons, those giving advice to prisoners and link or liaison officers based in local authorities and housing associations


This course equips delegates with the skills and knowledge to provide assistance to people from remand through to sentencing and release. Heavy emphasis is placed on the importance of sustaining tenancies and the range of available tactics. Delegates develop an understanding of the assessment of vulnerability under the homelessness legislation and consider the position of those facing homelessness upon discharge.

  • Establish whether it would be possible to sustain tenancies during a custodial sentence

  • Understand how to work strategically to reduce homelessness and the risk of re-offending

  • Identify key case law around vulnerability and how to support homelessness applications
